Sponsor an Indiana Master Naturalist Class

Organization sponsors are expected to:

  • Develop a course outline, with a minimum of 8, three-hour sessions focused on core curriculum topics
  • Select qualified instructors for each course
  • Obtain approval for the course from the IMN Advisory Council
  • Provide publicity for the course
  • Be present for each class as a host/sponsor
  • Follow up with students to assist them in locating volunteer service
  • Report completed volunteer service for certification to the state coordinator
  • Maintain contact with students to update on future classes and statewide events

Application Process for Sponsoring a Class

To begin the process of sponsoring an Indiana Master Naturalist class, please review our IMN Curriculum and Host Manual. This great resource guide will provide an overview of the program, introduce you to the types of classes you should offer and the broad course objectives you should plan to meet for each session, provide you with a step-by-step guide to planning a workshop.

After you review the manual, fill out an IMN Workshop application and send it in to the State Coordinator. After your application is reviewed and approved by the Advisory Council, you will be able to begin publicity for your workshop.
