Since 1939, the Division of Land Acquisition has been responsible for coordinating the real estate needs of the DNR, including fee acquisitions, conservation easements, utility and access easements, and the sale of surplus property. Land Acquisition works closely with the DNR land-holding divisions of State Parks; Forestry; and Fish, Wildlife & Nature Preserves as well as external partners including land trusts, local parks departments, and nonprofit recreational trail groups.
