Robing Ceremony of the Honorable Stephen E. "Sam" Scheele
The robing ceremony for Judge Stephen “Sam” Scheele will take place on Friday, April 4, 2025 at 2:00 p.m. ET in the Supreme Court Courtroom, on the 3rd floor of the State House. The public is invited to watch a webcast of the ceremony via the following link:

The ceremony will include remarks from Joe Heerens, former General Counsel for former Governor Eric A. Holcomb, Patrick Price, General Counsel for The Honorable Mike Braun, Indiana Supreme Court Chief Justice Loretta H. Rush, Court of Appeals of Indiana Chief Judge Robert R. Altice, Jr., Scout Troop 532 Scoutmaster J. Matthew Barry and the Honorable Timothy J. Ormes.
Chief Judge Altice will administer the oath with the assistance of Judge Scheele’s daughter. Judge Scheele’s wife and son will assist in the ceremonial robing.
In December, Governor Holcomb named Judge Scheele to succeed Judge Terry A. Crone. Judge Scheele was sworn in at a private ceremony on January 8, 2025 and officially began his duties as judge on that date.

The Court of Appeals of Indiana is the second-highest court in the state, hearing appeals from the state’s trial courts. The 15 members of the Court issue approximately 2,000 written opinions annually. A decision is final unless granted further review by the Indiana Supreme Court.
