Motorcycle Learner's Permit
A motorcycle learner's permit allows Indiana residents who hold a valid Indiana driver's license to practice riding a motorcycle or motor driven cycle before applying for a motorcycle endorsement.
You may apply for a motorcycle learner’s permit at any Indiana BMV branch if you meet the following requirements:
- Hold a valid Indiana driver’s license. Click to learn how to obtain one.
- Pass a knowledge test based on the Motorcycle Operator’s Manual.
- Have a parent or guardian sign an Agreement of Financial Liability, if you are less than 18 years of age.
Ready to take your knowledge exam?
Be sure to arrive at a branch at least one hour before the branch closes in order to take the motorcycle knowledge exam that day.
