The Individual Artist Program (IAP) was created in 1999 to provide support to artists in all disciplines for career development projects. The program cycle runs from July 1 to June 30 and offers flexibility to respond to artists' needs and goals. Applicants must plan a project, or phase of a project, which can be realized within the requested budget and completed within the proposed timeline.
Grant announcements are made after the paneling process has concluded and after the Indiana Arts Commission has approved the panel recommendations.

Applicants may request a maximum of $2,000.
Advisory panelists will score applications from zero to 100 based on the criteria provided. Criteria can be viewed by clicking here or reviewing the guidelines.
IAC staff may use a Commission-approved normalization formula that will minimize scoring discrepancies between the panels. Applications will then be ranked by their final score, with the highest considered for funding. IAC will review and ratify funding recommendations at its June meeting, which is open to the public.
Written comments and copies of panel recordings can be requested by emailing firstname.lastname@example.org or by calling 317-232-1278. Requests for written comments can be emailed. All requests for copies of audio must be mailed to the attention of the Grants Manager at the Indiana Arts Commission and include the following: 1) a self-addressed, stamped envelope, 2) a blank CD, and 3) your name, discipline and full contact information.
1. Choose your project
Projects must have a significant impact on your career development and you must be able to complete all funded activities within the grant period.
2. Select the artistic discipline
The IAP program will only accept applications in the Crafts, Design, Media Arts, Photography, and Visual Arts disciplines on odd fiscal years and applications in the Dance, Literary Arts, Music, and Theatre disciplines in the even fiscal years. Folk arts applications will be paneled with the corresponding discipline (for example, a folk art painter’s application will be reviewed in the Visual Arts panel and the panel will include a folk arts specialist). If you need help deciding which one is the appropriate category, please contact IAC staff.
3. Select artistic documentation
Submit work that best conveys your creative concepts and technical expertise. Refer to the guidelines for accepted formats and the submission process.
4. Complete the online application
Go to the IAC's Online Grants System to complete an application.
Final reports will be submitted in the IAC's Online Grants System. Project modifications must be discussed with program manager Sarah Fronczek (email@example.com or 317-232-1274) before any changes are made.
