Opera in the Gardens

Friendship Botanic Gardens is presenting the 17th Annual Opera in the Gardens this August. This signature event of Friendship Botanic Gardens brings cultural growth, education, and entertainment to Northwest Indiana communities through opera ensemble and solo performances in a one-of-a-kind natural and beautiful environment. IAC funds will be used to advertise the event and to compensate performers.

About the International Friendship Gardens Music Festival, Inc.

Friendship Gardens is a 105-acre botanical sanctuary that enriches the community through programs that promote environmental stewardship and appreciation of the arts. Their natural and cultivated spaces are the perfect settings for unique experiences that forge lifelong connections between people and nature.

The Photography of Anthony Schmidt

The Studebaker National Museum is presenting an exhibition called “The Photography of Anthony Schmidt” from June 16, 2023, to January 28, 2024, with the support of IAC funds. Anthony Schmidt is a renowned 15-year-old photographer with autism. He has a great passion for collecting model cars and incredible artistic abilities. His famous images feature model cars photographed in real world locations. Anthony will be in South Bend for two days where he will host a lecture and an event to raise awareness, acceptance, and empowerment of neurodiverse artists.

About Studebaker National Museum

The Studebaker National Museum is devoted to sharing the story of the automotive and industrial history of South Bend and the greater region through the display and interpretation of Studebaker vehicles along with related industrial artifacts. The museum works to spark the imagination and ignite interest and passion for design, innovation, and overall impact of the automobile.

Peer Support Art Groups

Mental Health America of Northeast Indiana is using IAC funding to provide Peer Support Art group sessions to individuals who are facing mental health challenges or in recovery. Support group participants experience a variety of methods to create, experience, and learn about art in a safe environment. Led by an artist who is an advocate for mental health, this program is meant to give individuals the opportunity to creatively express their thoughts and feelings in a healthy way.

Mental Health America of Northeast Indiana offers services and support to individuals who are experiencing mental health challenges and disabilities. Their mission is to promote the mental and emotional health of the community by offering advocacy, education, support services, and hope.

Peru Visual Arts Festival

Miami County Artisan Gallery is using IAC funding to present the 3rd Annual Peru Visual Arts Festival in beautiful historic Downtown Peru. The festival is a revitalizing event that unites the whole city of Peru with local and regional artists.  Open to the public and free to attend, the Peru Visual Arts Festival welcomes artists of all kinds, photographers, music makers, dreamers, and doers. This creative vision stems from a partnership between four art galleries, various art vendors, local restaurants and businesses, art competitions, bands, and local cultural groups.
