Credit Guidelines for Grant Recipients

As a condition of your grant from the Indiana Arts Commission, including those administered by one of our Regional Arts Partner organizations, you are required to credit the funding support you receive both on your website and all funding-associated promotional materials.

Acknowledging your public funding source(s) is not just a stipulation of your grant agreement, it is a crucial opportunity to let your audiences know how their state supports their cultural experiences through your project or programming.

Every time you credit your funding sources, you are thanking your audience (taxpayers), and your local, state, and national political leaders for their support of the arts in Indiana and specifically your activity.

To include funding credit into your program

  • Include the appropriate logos on any / all signage, large or small (all logos must be clearly readable and may not be altered without consulting the IAC). Logos must be sized proportionally to original dimensions.
  • Include logos and / or credit line on any other printed materials.
  • If you communicate with participants via email, or standard mail service, include the credit line at the end of your message
  • Does your event or activity have its own Facebook page?
    • In the event description, add the credit line language at the end. If the activity is promoted on your own Facebook page, tag the IAC in any comments about the event so that we can help you promote it.
  • If you have a website or blog about the activity or event, include the credit line language and logos, and provide links back to the IAC website and grant program section.
  • At the event itself, tell your audience about your funding source. If the verbal acknowledgement example given seems formal, you can make it more personal, such as:
    • “Thanks for being here for (event name), and I would like to thank the Indiana Arts Commission, (Regional Arts Partner name if applicable), and the National Endowment for the Arts, for helping to make this program possible.”
    • Please remember, not every grant proposal made to the Indiana Arts Commission receives funding. The merit of your program was deemed worthy of funding by an impartial, highly qualified grant review panel. Providing visual, written and verbal recognition of that support reflects a “seal of approval” from the Indiana Arts Commission on behalf of the citizens of our state.
