What is Assisted Living in Indiana?

There is no federal definition of assisted living and in every state it could be different. In Indiana, assisted living is a broadly used term that covers licensed residential care facilities and providers of housing with services.

Licensed residential care facilities are health care facilities regulated by the Indiana State Department of Health . They are authorized to provide home health agency-type services such as medication administration. Because they are health care facilities, they must comply with ISDH rules and regulations and are subject to regularly conducted surveys.
