Entry Description
STATEHOUSE –State Representative Jud McMillin (R-Brookville) is working to fight domestic violence by supporting a local domestic violence intervention and prevention service, Safe Passage, Inc. On June 6, beginning at 7 a.m., Rep. McMillin, alongside Safe Passage and a group of volunteers, will be collecting pledges and donations during a 36-hour wiffle-ball game in an attempt to break the Guinness World Record.

“Services to victims of domestic violence through Safe Passage are at an all-time high,” said Jane Yorn, Safe Passage, Inc. Executive Director. “Events such as this wiffle ball tournament provide awareness about our life-saving resources, as well as critical funding for the comprehensive services we provide. This event is a wonderful example of community leadership and support behind an important need.”

What: Charity event for Safe Passage
When: Friday, June 6, at 7 a.m.
Where: The game will take place at 10172 Resevoir Rd. in Brookville; a local home near Brookville
                Golf Course

Safe Passage, Inc. is a not-for-profit agency serving Franklin, Dearborn, Ripley, Ohio and Switzerland counties since its inception in 1997. One-hundred percent of the contributions and proceeds from this fundraiser will help Safe Passage provide the following services to victims of domestic violence: secure residential shelter, case management, court and legal advocacy, children’s programming and counseling to list a few. Safe Passage also provides school-based and community education programs aimed at violence prevention. All services are provided at no cost.

“I am excited to take part in this event to support Safe Passage, Inc.,” said Rep. McMillin. “This is a fun way to help them continue doing great work for our community. The services they provide to victims of domestic violence are invaluable to so many Hoosier families, and I encourage everyone to come out and support this great organization.”

A group from Oregon currently holds the Guinness World Record for longest wiffle ball game at 25 hours, 39 minutes and 33 seconds. They generated over $4,000 to support underprivileged youth through scholarships for sports leagues, swim lessons and youth activity camps in the Medford, Oregon area. Rep. McMillin intends to surpass their record by more than 10 hours.

The event is open to the public, and families from the community are encouraged to attend. For more information about this event, please contact Rep. McMillin at or visit to support the cause.

Rep. McMillin represents all of Union County and portions of Dearborn and Franklin counties.
