Low Interest Disaster Loans Available to Non-Profits for January Snowstorm

Private non-profit organizations in 19 Indiana counties are now eligible for low-interest disaster loans from the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) as a result of the severe winter storm on January 5-9. Loans are available in the following counties: Boone, Clay, Hendricks, Huntington, Jasper, Kosciusko, Madison, Morgan, Newton, Noble, Owen, Parke, Putnam, Sullivan, Tipton, Vigo, Wabash, White, and Whitley.

According to SBA, eligible private non-profits do not provide critical services of a governmental nature. Examples include food kitchens, homeless shelters, libraries, community centers, and schools.

Organizations can borrow up to $2 million to repair or replace damaged assets such as real estate, inventory, and equipment.

The deadline to return applications for physical property damage is June 23, 2014.

Economic Injury Disaster Loans (EIDL)
The SBA is also offering Economic Injury Disaster Loans to help private non-profits meet financial needs, which includes payroll, working capital and other business financial commitments. EIDL assistance is available regardless of whether the business suffered any physical property damage.

The deadline to return economic injury applications is January 22, 2015.
