Legislative Branch

Legislative Branch

The legislative branch is made of two parts: the House of Representatives and the Senate. They make the laws for the state of Indiana.

Senate

The Indiana Senate consists of 50 members who serve four-year terms with no term limits.  The President of the Senate, Indiana’s Lieutenant Governor, presides from the podium at the front of the room.

House of Representatives

The Indiana House of Representatives is made up of 100 members who are elected to two-year terms with no term limits. Above the Speaker of the House’s podium is the state seal flanked by two voting boards.
