For Immediate Release | January 4, 2024

State of the Judiciary scheduled for January 10

Indiana Chief Justice Loretta H. Rush will address the Governor and a joint session of the Indiana General Assembly for the annual State of the Judiciary. The formal update on the work of the judicial branch will be held Wednesday, January 10, 2024, at 2:00 p.m. Eastern in the chamber of the Indiana House of Representatives.

The Chief Justice is required to provide lawmakers with an update on the “condition of the courts” according to Article 7, Section 3, of the Indiana Constitution. The 2024 address—Indiana Courts’ Return on Investment—will focus on how the judiciary is strengthening specialized courts, addressing rural needs, leveraging technology through innovation, and building public trust through outreach.

The address will be webcast live at courts.in.gov. Indiana Public Broadcasting Stations (IPBS) will also air the address. Media organizations interested in attending should contact Kathryn Dolan, Supreme Court Chief Public Information Officer, at kathryn.dolan@courts.in.gov.

It is the policy of the Supreme Court that all Court public meetings and events be accessible to people with disabilities. Sign language interpretation will be provided. If further accommodation is needed, you may send requests to heather.falks@courts.in.gov.
